Students

Growth

Main: We meet every Sunday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. for student worship. During this time, we play team building games, spend time in praise to our Creator and hear a relevant lesson the applies to everyday life.

Prayer

If you would like to partner with us in prayer, here are some specific ways to pray for the students:

  • Faith: For their relationship with God and the ministries that they are involved with
  • Fortification: For their protection from Satan and his deadly weapons
  • Families: For their families’ unity and foundation to be built, strengthened and maintained
  • Friendships: For wisdom and discernment in choosing friends and potential influences
  • Future: For their potential mate, career and ministry

Main Events

Pursue Christian Teen Conference: All students in 7th through 12th grade are invited to Pursue Christian Teen Conference. The price includes entry to the convention, transportation, lodging, and one meal. You will automatically receive a discount just for registering early (please check the bulletin for the early date). Once registered, the student will be placed in a room with at least one student leader who has updated clearances on file at church and has been approved to be a chaperone through an application process. We will leave at 10 a.m. on a Friday, requiring an absence for the majority of the school day.

This event takes place in Harrisburg the last weekend in February. The event hosts worship bands, speakers, and workshops that will challenge your kid in their walk with God. This is a great way to get connected to our Student Ministry. Interested? Please fill out the Registration Form which are available the first week in November each year. One form per student please. Student Takeover: Each July and December the students in grade 7th through 12th “takeover” one of the worship services on one of the Sundays that month. They will lead worship, serve, speak and do anything to add to the main message that day. No matter how outgoing or shy a student may be, we definitely have a job for them!

Funding

Student Accounts: Students can open account so that they can raise and deposit money into these accounts in order to pay for event student ministry events. Interested? Please fill out the the Student Account form available upon request. Here are some basic rules to govern the student accounts:

  1. Each student must have account activity (deposit or withdrawal) at least once every 6 months.
    • If a student does not make a deposit or withdrawal within 6 months, then 25% of the balance will be deducted from their account. The deducted amount will be deposited into the Student Ministry General Account.
    • If a student does not make a deposit or withdrawal within 1 year, then 100% of the balance will be deducted from their account. The deducted amount will be deposited into the Student Ministry General Account.
  2. At any point throughout the year, a student can only have $300 in their account.
    • Any money raised beyond the $300 limit will be deposited into the Student Ministry General Account.
    • Students cannot designate money raised beyond $300 to another student. However, a student can use their discretion to give another student money from their account.
  3. Any misconduct during a fundraiser or pertaining to Student Ministry finances will result in the suspension of fundraising privileges for 6 months.
    • Fundraising can only happen within the fundraiser period. Items/tickets/etc. sold before or after the period will be deposited into the Student Ministry General Account.
    • Fundraising means working together. We need to remember that while we are individually fundraising, we are also working together toward shared goals. Therefore, think about others when fundraising and how we can achieve the maximum benefit for the whole.
    • Fundraising is for students and should be done by students. Parents that do all the work will hinder their child from learning that hard work pays off. There are many life lessons that can happen during these fundraisers, try not to steal the opportunities for growth.
    • Fundraising is not territorial. We are a church family and we are to help each other out. Therefore, I do not want to hear, “she was my customer” or “I usually sell to them.”
    • Fundraising should increase group unity. Bad-mouthing another student (even if what the other student is doing is wrong) will absolutely not be tolerated. Fundraising privileges will immediately be suspended if this occurs.

Fundraising: We will organize various fundraisers throughout the year. Our main fundraiser is Hoagie Sale which happens four times a year. Interested? Hoagie Sale Forms are available in the lobby or online at the beginning of a sale. Please fill out the form properly. Any orders turned in after the end date will be accepted but will not be credited to the student who sold it. Other fundraisers will be communicated in the church bulletin, online or on our Student Groups Facebook page.
